Microscope Beauty Videos Are the New Creepy-Cool YouTube Trend You Can't Look Away From

The world of YouTube is a beautiful place. One minute you can be watching a cat singing the National Anthem and the next you can learn how to do the perfect cat eye ten different ways. If beauty is your beat, this latest YouTube trend might have you enticed (or grossed out!) for hours.

Allow me to introduce you to micro makeup, the YouTube video trend where vloggers use a microscope to apply or remove makeup, look at their scalps, beauty tools, and more.

Vlogger Tina Yong kicked off this trend with her video “Peel Off Blackhead Mask Under A Microscope.” Her breakout hit was “How My Makeup Looks Under a Microscope,” which has now surpassed over six million views. Since then, hundreds of videos with “under a microscope” in the title have been uploaded, racking up over 75 million views, according to YouTube.

So, if you've ever wondered what your pores really look like under all that highlighter or if your beauty products are as clean as they should be, guess no more. Micro makeup is here to take us on a deep dive adventure of our face beats. Watch a few of the best videos below. You'll never look at yourself the same way again.

Too Much Skin

This might be the grossest of them all. One vlogger explores her pores, acne and all, under the microscope. If you get nauseous easily, this video is not for you.

Bake cake, checking after 30 minutes and tenting with foil only if crumble is getting very dark (some color is fine), until top of cake is firm and a tester inserted into the center comes out clean, 60–70 minutes. Let cake cool in pan, at least 2 hours, then cut into slices in pan.

Wrap entire hoagie tightly in plastic wrap, then cut crosswise into 4 even sections. (The plastic wrap acts sort of like a girdle, holding in all of the meat, cheese, and veg so that they won't fly out you slice smaller segments. It also acts as insurance in case the parchment paper gets damp.)
