After a slew of new product releases and a rumored foray into skin care, Fenty Beauty has acquired a new celebrity brand ambassador (other than its founder Rihanna, of course). Fenty Beauty announced today that 20-year-old actress and activist Amandla Stenberg (Everything, Everything, The Hate U Give, The Hunger Games) will be its first-ever Brand Ambassador.
“I wanted to become a part of the Fenty Family because it’s one of the few beauty brands that make me feel like myself! Fenty Beauty’s whole ethos makes me feel empowered and excited to let different facets of myself shine,” said Stenberg in an official press release.
Along with her excitement, Stenberg shared that the Match Stix Matte and Shimmer Skinsticks are her favorites from the brand, and that they "are wonderful for on-the-go highlighting and bronzing, and I’m always about having a lil glow going. Plus, they stick together with magnets, which ensure they’ll never break apart in your bag.”
While Stenberg is Fenty Beauty's first celebrity ambassador, it's no surprise as to why she's a great fit for the brand. In 2017, Rihanna launched Fenty Beauty as an inclusive brand for “everyone feel beautiful and recognized, no matter their race, ethnicity, culture or personal style,” and has since been praised for its diversity within the beauty space.
Stenberg frequently mirrors Fenty Beauty's mission by advocating for diversity within Hollywood. "I never feel reluctant talking about issues or defending people and their identities," she told ELLE.com in 2016. "I don't feel afraid to talk about racism or to talk about sexism or the gender binary, because I feel like it's important and necessary and that importance outweighs any potential backlash that I can receive.
As the new face of Fenty Beauty, Stenberg will participate in social media content for the brand and will be seen in campaign imagery around the world in 2019.
