Borrowing from your significant other, be it skincare products (or skincare secrets), hoodies, sweats, and jeans is nothing new. But, if your S.O. has been using up your favorite fragrance with no plans to replace it, Louis Vuitton created just the solution you need.
Inspired by the "cool and effortless spirit" of California, Louis Vuitton's in-house perfumer Jacques Cavalier Belletrud whipped up three different scents that evoke pleasant memories of vacation, from the sun to gardens and the sea. Sun Song, bottled up in a bright yellow glass, blends orange blossom and lemon to create a fresh citrus aroma that unearths the warmth and feel of a bright summer day.
"The enthusiasm of mate to exalt the emotions. The cool freshness of an exotic patio. A breath of leaves defies the heat wave like an enchanted frisson on the skin," the brand describes its Cactus Garden scent. Hidden in this bottle are hints of bergamot orange and lemongrass that transport you to a tropical rainforest with each spritz.
The final scent in the trio is the Afternoon Swim and it's exactly what you'd expect—a sun-soaked, irresistible light scent made of bergamot and mandarin. "I dreamed of creating a perfume with airiness. Locating the sensitive frontier between a pleasant but fleeting summer eau and the permanence of a perfume that expresses itself on the skin over time," Belletrud said in a statement. "Sun Song, Cactus Garden, and Afternoon Swim are the colours of summer and of endless summer nights which they extend because I created them with the same respect as great perfumes, with rare and natural raw materials whose qualities are exceptional. These are perfumes of light, with notes that burst to reveal all their inherent naturalness."
Louis Vuitton teamed up with multimedia artist and filmmaker Alex Israel, who designed artwork each fragrance. Sun Song is given an oversized sunglass lens, which is one of Isreal's trademark designs; a “Desperado” landscape is paired with Cactus Garden and Afternoon Swim is set against a giant wave, all of which are a nod to the cool vibes of California.
Louis Vuitton's trio of unisex fragrances retail for $250 for 100ml and are available now.
